Many things have changed over the past few weeks because of the Coronavirus. It has changed the way we used to live, the way students go to school, and the way we interact with other people in our daily life. One thing has not changed: McKendree University’s commitment to their students. This year, more than ever, it is important to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. Despite the sudden changes, McKendree University will be hosting its annual Academic Excellence Celebration Day, just in a slightly modified way.

McKendree University will hold a virtual electronic Academic Excellence Celebration on Thursday, April 23, 2020 and it will be called the “eAEC.” Students and faculty members have worked together to create an online website specifically for the eAEC. The page will be launched on April 23, 2020 and will have URL links to students’ posters, presentations, and performances. In addition, there will be an associated Facebook page for participation and comments.

Instead of giving an oral presentation in person, students who want to present at AEC will now be asked to create an electronic presentation using whatever technology they prefer. It can be a PowerPoint presentation, a video presentation, and much more. There are no boundaries to your creativity!

Since McKendree University is the home for students from all over the world, and these students are now presenting from all over the world, you can start your presentation by stating where you currently are! That way it will not only be an online AEC but also an AEC that connects the whole world with each other.

This is the first time in McKendree’s history that the whole world will be able to see your presentation and what you have worked so hard for this semester. Therefore, students are encouraged to dress up professional, be creative, and flexible. Not even the sky is your limit!

If you want to catch this unique opportunity and participate in McKendree’s first-ever eAEC submit the URL leading to your project to Dr. Alewine (jaalewine@mckendree.edu) no later than April 17, 2020 so that he can include your presentation to the website. Note: Submit one URL per poster, presentation, or performance, except for the art exhibit which should submit one URL per artist.

Then mark your calendar and tell everyone you know that the eAEC webpage and associated Facebook page will launch on April 23, 2020!

We are ready, are you?
