Meet the Editor in Chief

By: Grace Gross, Editor in Chief Hello, my name is Grace! I am the new Editor in Chief for the McKendree Review. I am a second-year communications major and this is my second semester working for the Review. I have greatly enjoyed my time writing and editing. During my time in high school, I was on the newspaper team. I was a writer as a sophomore and co-editor for my junior and senior years. My time working on the paper greatly impacted my decision to join the McKendree Review. I hope everyone’s final exams went well and congratulations to all of the Bearcats who are graduating - this includes myself. If you are a student and interested in becoming a part of The McKendree Review, some positions within our team are opening next semester: for questions and inquiries, please contact Dr. Rich Murphy at remu...
A Writer’s Farewell

A Writer’s Farewell

By Kenneth Glidden, Head Culture Writer Photos taken by Sadie Miyler, Photographer and Designer The ability to write is the ability to create worlds, share feelings, bring change and much more. The ability to write with a platform in which you are heard is a blessing. This past year I have been very blessed. I began my journey with the McKendree Review in September of last year which seems to be considerably further away than it really is. At the time, all I wanted was a creative outlet, something I could use to escape from the everyday analytical, mind-numbing ways of thought brought by the abundance of reading, writing and regurgitating information that the concept of school feeds us.  I had begun journaling a few weeks before my time at the Review and caught writing fever...

Your McK Review Team

Hello everybody, this is me, Magdalena Knapp, but people here call me Magda. I am the editor in chief for the McKendree Review. I started off as a writer my freshman year because I really enjoy writing and the idea of writing for a school newspaper. I have always been very passionate about writing and reading newspapers. When I was in High School I did an internship at our local news channel, and had the opportunity to write some of the news articles for them. This was when I discovered my love for newspapers and writing. I love that by being a writer for newspapers you can get in touch with people and ask all the questions you want. If you ask some questions as a “regular” person it might be frowned upon or people may think you are too nosey, BUT if you are a journalist, you have a fre...

To our readers, Welcome to another semester of The McKendree Review, McKendree’s student-run newspaper. In previous issues, The Review has always been committed to covering interesting stories that McKendree students are passionate about. Welcome to another edition of the McKendree Review! In this issue, we take a look into a few interesting topics that we are sure will start a few questioning conversations on campus. We support our writers and their decisions when writing about their selected topics. As supporters of the McKendree Review, we urge our readers to keep in mind that we are a student-run organization with individual ideals. These ideals do not always match up to those of McKendree University. (more…)
