When it comes to finding a job, it may be easier than expected. When it comes to your dream job, it is definitely a bigger journey. RippleMatch is one of the evolving ways to find your dream job. RippleMatch’s mission statement easily sums up a great future in paving career paths for many: “RippleMatch is the career matching platform that brings your dream job or internship to you. Finding your next opportunity is simple: get matched with top employers and fast-tracked to the interview. No more getting ghosted after spending hours applying on job boards – RippleMatch is the new way to find work.” From my experience and many others, being ghosted when applying for jobs can be a constant occurrence. This is one thing that I feel is very irritating because of how much effort I put into my cover letter and formatting my resume to just be unrecognized. However, RippleMatch has a resolution for this, due to their business model: “RippleMatch is free for students, and always will be. Our clients (companies that are hiring) sign annual contracts with us to help them with their recruiting efforts.”
Annual contracts are a major part of RippleMatch’s great efforts to find every student their future career. Through these contracts, each company that partners with RippleMatch is required to respond to each job application they receive. No other job search platform has this process that helps secure successful employment. RippleMatch partners with leading companies such as eBay, Estee Lauder, General Mills, Dell and so much more! Partnering companies range from Fortune 500s to nonprofits. This ensures only secure companies can post applications because they must go through a vetting process before getting accepted onto the platform.
“RippleMatch automates the job search process by matching students directly with potential first-round interviews. Therefore students don’t spend countless hours browsing and mass applying to jobs.” You may ask why this is so easy? Well, it can be explained by simply saying that RippleMatch gives you a “greater probability of landing that interview; employers receive curated batches of candidates instead of a sea of resumes through a job board.” The origin of RippleMatch is something truly inspiring for all college students. It was born out of a dorm at Yale in 2016 and has gained over 1,000,000 students on the platform! RippleMatch has asked students, such as myself, to join the team through leadership development while being on their recruitment team. This has allowed RippleMatch to expand to over 1,300 schools and is still constantly growing!
As a recruiter for RippleMatch, I feel that this is definitely a great position I enjoy. The process of hiring students to help other students jump-start their careers is a wonderful way to express the dedication RippleMatch has to help students with their job goals. I am very thankful to be involved in such a great cause along with those who have helped me do so. Jennifer Pickerell, the director of Career Services, set up a time for me to present RippleMatch in front of the Office of Admissions, and I would not have had such great success otherwise. After telling Jennifer about RippleMatch, I asked about how different job searches had been previously. It was more difficult with little to no communication mostly seeing job openings through newspapers or through networking. When it came to resumes and cover letters, they would be sent by mail and possibly without ever receiving a response.
Some advice Jennifer stated was to always have more than one source of searching for jobs. Career fairs and multiple platforms are some of these sources we all should take advantage of.
