For a few of us at McKendree Media, it is time to say goodbye. Abigail Kishimoto, Jamari Johnson, and I (Haley Rey) are all graduating this month, and you will not be hearing from us anymore. Here are a few words we’d like to leave you with, to say goodbye…
Abigail Kishimoto, Head Culture Co-Writer:
This semester has flown by! I feel like it was just yesterday that I joined the McKendree Review team, and I am sad to see it end so soon. Writing is something I have always enjoyed, but I did not really appreciate how much it could give you a voice until this year. If I could change one thing, I would have gotten involved with the Review before my last semester here. With that, if you are anything like me and have considered writing for a while, I highly recommend you join the Review writing team. It is an experience that I am very grateful for and will miss as I graduate McKendree!
Jamari Johnson, Head Sports Producer:
I want to say thank you to McKendree Media for giving me the chance to showcase my voice and give information about McKendree sports. Working with McKendree Media was great; it helped me come out of my comfort zone and try new things. I appreciate the people I worked with and I learned a lot from them. I want to thank the listeners who took the time out of their day to listen to me talk. Thank you all again!
Haley Rey, Editor in Chief:
The Review has given me a lot. It took me a couple of years to get into, despite previous editors encouraging me to give it a try. My first story was published during the summer of 2020, and it felt great to have my voice out there. I’ve learned a lot about editing, writing, and the world of journalism—and the love and criticism that comes with it. I’ve made a lot of friends and learned to be a bit more daring when it comes to finding information, and I’ve learned that amplifying others’ voices can be incredibly important. Additionally, learning about the history of the Review during the semester of its 100th anniversary has given me a much deeper appreciation for everyone that has kept it going. I’ve truly loved the jobs I’ve had with the Review, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for its future!
Once again, thank you to our loyal audience. Our readers and listeners are incredibly important to us, and without you, McKendree Media would have no purpose. We will do our best to continue to provide content for you to enjoy!
