By: Grace Gross, Editor in Chief
Hello, my name is Grace! I am the new Editor in Chief for the McKendree Review.
I am a second-year communications major and this is my second semester working for the Review. I have greatly enjoyed my time writing and editing. During my time in high school, I was on the newspaper team. I was a writer as a sophomore and co-editor for my junior and senior years. My time working on the paper greatly impacted my decision to join the McKendree Review.
Aside from being the new Editor in Chief, I am involved in a plethora of extracurricular activities outside of the classrooms. I am the Secretary for McKendree’s Student Government Association (SGA). Getting to work with SGA for the last year has really been eye-opening. I guess you can say I like working behind the scenes!
I am deeply involved in the Music Department at McKendree as well. I play the clarinet in Wind Ensemble and Concert Band. I have been playing the clarinet since the fifth grade, so that makes this year my ninth year as a clarinetist. In addition to both ensembles, I recently joined the Color Guard for the McKendree Spirit Band.
I am also on the executive board for Psychology Club as the Public Relations chair. Fortunately, I got to participate in Make Your Mark on McKendree, an Earth Day-themed service event. I am looking forward to more events like this in the future!
Outside of the classroom and extracurriculars, I am a lover of music, reading and going for walks. You can always find me listening to music whenever I am studying, walking or doing homework. My favorite musical artist is Taylor Swift. Her music means a great deal to me. I have also been listening to artists such as Japanese Breakfast, Conan Gray, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. To me, music, reading and going for walks help relieve some of my stress. By being involved in many activities, I am actively taking on that many added stressors.
I am very grateful for all of the opportunities that McKendree has presented me. That includes the greatest opportunity to work for the McKendree Review. I am beyond excited about this new school year! We have a great team and I look forward to working with all our new members.
