On Thursday, March 3 the McKendree Men’s Basketball team fell short to Lewis University in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament quarterfinals, 68-58. This season, McKendree played the 2nd seeded Lewis Flyers, going 0-3 in those hard-fought matchups.

The Bearcats were the 7th seed in the tournament, winning their first-ever playoff win in the GLVC against #10 Quincy University 77-40 on Monday in front of the home crowd.

The men’s basketball team posted a 14-12 record to end their season, going 9-11 in conference play.

Despite the tough loss, junior Bryson Bultman posted a double-double – his third of the season – and scored 31 of the Bearcat points, while also grabbing 10 rebounds. Bultman was also a First-Team All-GLVC selection for the Bearcats this season.

With the season over, the team is slated to lose four valuable seniors in Brendon Gooch, Aleksa Popovic, CaRondis Harris-Anderson and Oliver Stephen. All four athletes were great leaders, and will be missed by the coaches and players on the Bearcat squad.

The men’s team is coached by Head Coach George Suggs, the rookie head coach who helped guide the team to 14 wins and the first GLVC tournament win in McKendree history. With Coach Suggs and company, along with the returning players in the 2022-2023 season, the future looks bright within our men’s basketball program.

Head Coach George Suggs

Thank you to the players and staff who made this season possible, and best of luck this off-season!
