2023 Academic Excellence Celebration: 10 Years of Excellence

McKendree’s 10th annual Academic Excellence Celebration was held on Thursday, April 27th of 2023. Academic Excellence Celebration (AEC) is for students to present their scholarly and creative work to the McKendree community. No classes were held in honor of AEC, instead, students were expected to attend events. First, students presented their research in Holman Library. Next, there were student presentations that took place in Piper Academic Center (PAC). Following the presentations, many honors society inductions took place around campus. Spotlight on Art: Hubris

The show recently had an open reception on March 23 and is available to view until April 2. This show is a rare treat, as it is the first show collaboration between veteran art faculty member Amy MacLennan and new art faculty member Kevin Kao. Hubris is defined as excessive pride or self-confidence. With its earliest use being in Greece during the late 1800’s, hubris was noted as excessive pride or defiance of the gods, leading to nemesis. Growing up near Mars, Al never imagined traveling far from home.  In an exploration of a surrounding galaxy, Al's spaceship collides with a satellite and sends his ship spiraling towards our planet.  In this new world, Al attempts to make the best of the situation.  Watch all of his experiences among human society unfold in Al Alone by B-RICHstudios. Spotlight on Art: Gallery Update

Paint Out! showcase featured 74 pieces crafted by 35 artists and was up for public viewing beginning August 15th and was taken down September 26th.
