Delight’s First Year at McKendree

By Madison Bonner, Writer Photos by Madison Bonner and Delight Ministries On February 1st, a student organization called Delight Ministries held its second-semester kick-off in the New Res Fireplace Lounge. This event began with a video that welcomed new and old members and presented Delight’s mission and the theme for the spring semester. After the video, McKendree’s Delight leadership team introduced themselves and started the first activity of the evening: affirmation cards. Tricks, Treats, and Tours: Halloween at McKendree

By Madison Bonner, Writer Photography by Madison Bonner On Monday, October 30th, McKendree celebrated Halloween with two events: a Haunted Campus Tour and Trick-or-Treat! Despite the freezing weather, they had great turnouts. Students braved the cold to dress up - and dress warm - for both events. The first event, McKendree’s Haunted Campus Tour, was hosted by McKendree’s History Club. This year marks its second annual occurrence. On this tour, students learned about McKendree’s past and its suspected hauntings. As the oldest college in Illinois, there is an abundance of spooky stories and fun facts to explore!  Isabella and Alexandria led the haunted tour. President Isabella (Bella) Barbaglia led the tour with Alexandria (Alex) Terveer and history professor Dr. Shelly Lemo...

McKendree Rotaract Club

With the plethora of clubs that are present on campus, there is no shortage of organizations for students to join. One club that is often overlooked is McKendree’s Rotaract Club. This type of club isn’t reserved for McKendree, or even universities in general, but is an international organization. There are community-led Rotary organizations around the globe that are welcome to all members. In fact, it is quite common for community-led branches of Rotary to sponsor and partner with their local university’s club. For example, McKendree’s club is a partner with the Rotary Club of O’Fallon Sunrise. Rotaract Club does a lot of good for the community that often goes unnoticed and underappreciated. One example is that last year while the war on Ukraine was first raging the country, McKendree’...
