It will not be long before cold season starts making its way to campus—and that nasty bug spreads about McKendree University like wildfire.

Did you know that cold and flu season typically occurs between the months of October and May? One of the main reasons why we get sick during this time is because we stay indoors more than we go outside. All it takes is for one person to catch a cold, and then BAM! That sucker infects almost everyone on the campus.

In case you have not seen The Dr. Oz Show, there is an episode where Dr. Oz talks about combating colds. I personally have benefitted from his advice. He lists over-the-counter medicines on his website, but my personal favorite is anything with zinc. Anytime I feel like I am getting a cold, I take a Zinc pill to combat that nasty virus.

Here’s a list of his top selections with zinc.

  1. Cold-Eeze Homeopathic Cold Remedy
  2. Zand Lemon Zinc Herbal Lozenge
  3. Vitamin World Chelated Zinc 50 mg

I can honestly say I have dodged many colds due to Dr. Oz’s advice.

Hopefully this information will help you as well.
