Spooky Sex Wellness Fair & What You Missed

By: Jasmine Gage, Writer Photography by Phoebe Mccutcheon On Wednesday, October 26th, Residence Life presented its annual Spooky Sex Wellness Fair! This fair is about getting into the spirit but also staying safe while doing so as Halloween is slowly approaching. I had the pleasure of attending this fair and explaining everything you could do if you could not make it! Encouraging Boards & Games  The fair included multiple different project boards with a variety of different topics. One of the boards discussed healthy relationships and what is considered good or bad in a relationship. The next one, “Genitalia 101,” discussed both male and female genitals and interesting facts about them. Also featured was “Assume The Position?” which is a matching game that shows multi...

Here at McKendree University, we welcome back our Alumni, participate in a week filled with activities, and cheer on our own football team in one of the biggest games yet! As we celebrate these activities, we also cannot forget the reign of the Homecoming Court! Students get the chance to compete against each other in a friendly campaign to earn the title of Homecoming Queen or Homecoming attendant here on campus! I have decided...

Getting Into the Fall Spirit!

By: Kristina Ferry, Writer Photo taken from the McKendree University Facebook page When it comes to fall spirit, many people enjoy it through activities such as getting cozy in a warm blanket and watching a scary movie. In order to help the campus delve into the fall spirit, campus activities hosted pumpkin painting which was held in front of The Lair on Monday, October 24th. This event was held in the middle of the day from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and it was a success! So many students came out for the event that one of the head directors had to go get more pumpkins. Photo taken from the McKendree University Facebook page The amount of creativity on the pumpkins was outrageous! Students had different ideas of what they might like to paint on their pumpkin from the McKendree ...

Career Services

By: Chloe Gamber, Head Academic Writer Hopefully most, if not all, students who are reading this have visited Career Services. If you have not, you need to do so as soon as possible! Both Director of Career Services Jennifer Pickerll and Assistant Director of Career Services Katie Schuetz are very passionate about helping every student. They both recommend that students not wait until junior year to get involved in career services for many reasons. First of all, around 80% of students change their major at least once. This occurrence is not necessarily bad if these students end up having a career they enjoy. But, getting guidance from Career Services about your interests and needs for your future career can help make this process easier. Katie explained how planning takes multiple step...

Best Spots for a Midterm Study Session

By: Kristina Ferry, Writer Photos taken by Phoebe Mccutcheon Midterm season can be hard on college students, and McKendree is no different. During this time of year a lot of students take their studies seriously, either to help them not fail a class or to maintain their high grade. Especially around midterms, it is important to know what the best study spots are on campus and how well they work. The three main study spots on campus are the Hub, the library, and 1828 Café. The Hub is a relatively new place on campus, but it is a great spot to study with a group of friends. Several rooms can be reserved that have whiteboards or projection screens for students who want to study on the big screen. Unlike other locations that can get noisy or require students to stay quiet, the Hub en...
