Academic Excellence Celebration: More Than Just a Day Off of School?

BY MORGAN MABERRY

The Academic Excellence Celebration is a day for students and alumni to show off their academic achievements and for the McKendree community to come together to celebrate academics.  The day is set for Thursday, April 24, 2014, beginning at 8am and wrapping up around 9pm.  The Academic Excellence Celebration will be happening across campus, mainly in Piper Academic Center and the Hett.  CLASSES ON THE LEBANON CAMPUS WILL NOT BE HELD THAT DAY, BUT STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND AEC EVENTS.  The day will consist of presentations from an array of different classes and areas of study.  Capstone projects, art exhibits, music ensembles, and service work are just a few examples.  In addition, honor society inductions and poster presentations will be held on this day.  Students, alumni, faculty and staff are encouraged to be a part of the celebration!  If you aren’t presenting, you are more than welcome to sit in and learn something from your fellow Bearcats.  There will be an E-form that all presenters must fill out in order to participate.  The E-form will become available the week of February 3 and will be due by March 3rd.  Keep your eyes and ears open for more information to come!

An Extra Note from the McKendree Review:

Dr. Christine Bahr, our very own Provost and Dean of McKendree University, sent out an email a few days ago detailing the following information:

“If you wish to participate as a presenter or performer, display a poster, host an honor society induction, or conduct another activity, please complete the online application:  www.mckendree.edu/academicexcellenceform

Applications are due by Monday, March 3.  You will be notified about your assigned room and time in a few weeks.”

Please contact Dr. Christine Bahr (cmbahr@mckendree.edu) for any questions regarding this event.
