2024 Academic Excellence Celebration

With classes canceled for the day, students were encouraged to watch their peers who were involved in presentations, performances, and honor society inductions. Catalyst: Calling All Creatives!

It’s that time of year again: the editors for Catalyst are looking for submissions!  Catalyst is McKendree University's student-run arts and literature magazine that gives students a chance to have their work seen by the public. Every spring a small group of student editors compile short stories, poetry, art, and creative nonfiction from students like you!  “The first version of the magazine appeared in print in 1991,” said Dr. Jenny Mueller, professor of English and faculty advisor to Catalyst. “It’s run continuously since then and has been a website since 2016.” The website format has allowed the editors to publish more student art than ever before. McKendree to Host Fourth Annual Academic Excellence Celebration

No classes will be held that day and all students are encouraged to attend or participate in the celebration. Applications for students to present or display a research poster are due by Friday, March 10 and can be found below. All applications require a faculty sponsor. Save the Date! This year's Academic Excellence Celebration will be on Thursday, April 28, 2016. Students will be presenting and performing their semester's work to parents, staff and other students. If you would like to be a part of the day, don’t forget to fill out the appropriate applications by Friday, March 11. Academic Excellence Celebration: More Than Just a Day Off of School? BY MORGAN MABERRY __________________________________________ The Academic Excellence Celebration is a day for students and alumni to show off their academic achievements and for the McKendree community to come together to celebrate academics.  The day is set for Thursday, April 24, 2014, beginning at 8am and wrapping up around 9pm.  The Academic Excellence Celebration will be happening across campus, mainly in Piper Academic Center and the Hett.  CLASSES ON THE LEBANON CAMPUS WILL NOT BE HELD THAT DAY, BUT STUDENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND AEC EVENTS.  The day will consist of presentations from an array of different classes and areas of study.  Capstone projects, art exhibits, music ensembles, and service work are just ...
