Your Editors, Signing Off

Feature photo by McKendree University

As an assistant editor at the McKendree Review, I’ve had the opportunity to read and evaluate some wonderful news articles written by our talented students. Although this year has been a challenge for many of us due to the pandemic, I am impressed with the level of work students have presented and excited to browse the work of future students as a reader. The past four years at McKendree have been spectacular and I feel like I’ve grown immensely as a student, writer, and person. Thank you to my fellow Bearcats for reading and contributing to the McKendree Review and good luck with the years to come!

This year was quite a time to be a part of the McKendree Review. Many of the stories we were sent were very real, and it was great to be a part of sharing the voice of the student body. I look forward to doing so next semester as well! If anyone reading this would like to join me as an editor next year, please reach out. We would love to have more wonderful people on the team, as I am the only returning member. It’s a great title to have, and a great part of the school to be involved in. I can’t wait to see what stories we get this upcoming semester.

My fellow Bearcats,
Thank you so much for allowing me to be an editor for you all this year, especially with as crazy as it’s been. It was an honor to be an editor for the Mckendree Review because it has allowed me to learn so much about my fellow bearcats and to see the world through their eyes. Thank you to my fellow editors as well, it was so great to be able to work with each and every one of you. I’ll miss working for the Review, but this chapter of my life is coming to a close and so I must be on to the next one. I wish you all well and hope that one day our paths may cross again.

Hey Bearcats,
This semester has been quite the journey for a lot of us. We’ve overcome so many challenges that future students (hopefully) never will. It’s been an honor to serve as one of your assistant editors for the review. This year has given me, and plenty others, so much time to sit down, reflect, and most importantly, write. I am so proud to be graduating as a Bearcat, and I want to thank my classmates and fellow editors for making these four years so incredible. I’ve had so much fun writing and editing with this wonderful group of ladies and I’m excited to see where life takes us.

Bearcats,
It’s been quite the year, but we made it. It’s been an honor to be your Editor in Chief! After four years of working for the McKendree Review, I’m sad to leave, but it’s been a fantastic ride. I’ve had the opportunity to listen to the stories of so many students, I’ve been able to help their voices become heard, and I have had my own work harshly criticized. There will always be someone in this world who doesn’t agree with you or who looks down on your work. It’s inevitable, so speak your truth, and never allow your voice to shake. Thank you to my fellow editors for all of your work and thank you to THE Rasta G (Gabe Shapiro) for pushing us to be great. The best if yet to come.
