The editors of McKendree University’s literary and art magazine, Catalyst, are on the hunt for submissions from undergraduates. Catalyst is a student-run magazine that strives to give McKendree students a chance to express themselves artistically. Every spring, the editors of the magazine work to accept, compile, edit, and publish the best poetry, art, fiction and essays created by McKendree students attending the Lebanon campus.
“Catalyst has given me the opportunity to publish my creative writing and poetry. It’s one of the only creative outlets on campus, and I think students should take full advantage of the opportunity to share their work,” Catalyst editor and contributing author Alivia Garcia said.

The literary and art magazine has been publishing on McKendree’s campus for over thirty years. Traditionally, a print copy of the magazine is released each spring. In recent years, the team has also shared the magazine through their website, which includes an archive of previous editions.
“I’ve enjoyed reading Catalyst and seeing the creative works of my peers. I would have never known there’s so many talented writers and artists at McKendree if I hadn’t discovered Catalyst,” said the magazine’s newest editor, Lilibeth Castillo.
The final day to submit to Catalyst is March 24, 2023. Email your submissions to Dr. Jenny Mueller (jimueller@mckendree.edu). You can submit any writing or art you please; just make sure it is original! All submitted art and literature are read, considered and edited by McKendree undergraduate students.
